Day 6, Back to Golden with Nancy & Pete
After our side trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park we returned to Golden to spend some time with Nancy and Pete. They suggested a visit to the annual gem show in Denver and a wonderful dinner at an Nepalese restaurant in Golden. The gem show is one of the biggest in the country (it filled several arenas) and it was truly amazing. In addition to gems it had loads of amazing minerals and even fossils. Connie and I were completely fascinated with all that we saw there. As souvenirs I got Connie a stone jewelry dish with an embedded fossil (ammonite). And of course for myself a fluorescent hyalite crystal (clear opal with trace uranium). It was all very fascinating! Afterwards the Torpeys took us to a Nepalese restaurant, the Sherpa House, for a delicious dinner. It was an excellent ending to a day with our friends. Here are a few photos.
